Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. (Leviticus 18:22)
The above Scripture should settle the matter of homosexuality for all time, but we are living in a period of history where the Word of God is ignored by the majority of the people. There are many other Scriptures that show the folly of this illicit practice. For a more complete study of the subject, we would refer the reader to Tract #A-335, The Bible & The Homosexual. You can order this tract from us, or you can read it on our Web Site HERE.
As we look at what is happening in our nation today it is evident that our society is perilously close to reaching a place of no return. The toleration of homosexuality eventually leads to approval and acceptance. I know of no civilization in all of history that has survived after the widespread acceptance of this practice. It caused the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. (See Genesis 19).
Why God Destroyed the Nations in the Land of Canaan
When God led the 12 tribes of Israel into the land of Canaan, they were commanded to utterly destroy the nations that inhabited the land. People often question whether God really told them to do that. God did tell them to do that and the proof is in the Bible. “When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou; And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them ; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them” (Deuteronomy 7:1-2). “But the LORD thy God shall deliver them unto thee, and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they be destroyed” (Deuteronomy 7:23).
If we go back to the book of Leviticus, we can find a list of the sins of these nations, and why God demanded their destruction. “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion. Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you : And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants” (Leviticus 18:22-25).
We face these same problems in the U.S.A. today. However, God has not commanded us to kill or drive out the homosexuals out of the land. We should not commit any violence against them. The New Testament clearly condemns the sin of homosexuality, but it does not instruct us to follow the Old Testament command. We should try to reach them with the gospel of salvation so that they will be able to quit this sin, and miss the fires of hell.
Our Nation Can be Destroyed by this Sin
God will never bless and tolerate a nation that approves this wicked sexual perversion. The history of Greece and Rome certainly bear this out. Not so many years ago homosexuality was against the law in America. They could be arrested and fined if they were caught practicing this sin. The climate has changed to the point that their way of life is commended and promoted freely among us. This has taken place because of the departure from the Bible and the laws of God.
Why I Do Not Call Them Gays
Some may wonder why I call them homosexuals and it is because that is what they are. I may quote some other writings where they are called gays, but I do not call them gays. There is nothing gay about their way of life. A more correct name for them would be sads. Homosexuals can look for a shorter life span on average. On average their lives are shortened 20 years or more compared to those who live a normal lifestyle. The homosexual community is riddled with AIDS, and many other sexual diseases. That would be a good reason for them to be sad, and to seek a change in their lives. They can be changed if they are willing to look to God for salvation and have a life of joy.
Evidence of Homosexual Gains
The following was published recently published by the Religion Institute which clearly shows us the direction that some religious leaders are going.
Coalition of Faith Leaders and Theologians Declare Religious Support for Same-Sex Marriage. (Religion Institute) As Congress prepares to vote on the Federal Marriage Amendment, which would alter the Constitution to deny same-sex couples access to civil marriage, an unprecedented, diverse and high-profile coalition of faith leaders has released a powerful Open Letter in support of marriage equality for same-sex couples. Functioning under the umbrella nonprofit organization Religious Institute on Sexual Morality, Justice, and Healing, the authors publicly affirmed a broad, faith-based rationale for supporting marriage equality for same-sex couples. With more than ten denominations now permitting their clergy to perform same-sex marriage ceremonies, the Religious Institute’s Open Letter represents a growing consensus of faith-based support for full inclusion of gay and lesbian couples in civil and religious marriage. The Open Letter challenges those who use their religion to justify discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. Stating that the civil and religious values of marriage should be available to all people, the authors ask religious and civic leaders to promote good marriages based on responsibility, equity, and love, without restrictions based on the biological sex, procreative potential, or sexual orientation of the partners. The Open Letter was developed at a colloquium of theologians sponsored by the Religious Institute and funded by Freedom to Marry. Signing authors of the Open Letter represent theologians and ordained clergy from a broad range of diverse religious perspectives.
This radical group of so-called religious leaders have completely ignored the teaching of the Bible. This is typical of the liberal religions today, and by doing this they should be forfeiting the right to call themselves Christians.
It has been reported that Baylor University students marched in a Gay Day Parade in Dallas. Pictures featured Baylor students holding up a Gay Pride banner and they were wearing T-Shirts that proudly proclaimed Baylor University. This is supposed to be a Southern Baptist school, but it has been dominated by the liberals. Please read the following:
20th Annual Gay Parade in The Dallas Oak Lawn Area. Baylor University students marched in the 20th annual gay parade in Oak Lawn. They wore BAYLOR T-shirts and marched under the banner of baylorfreedom.com
The Los Angles Times of Sept. 22, 2004 reveals a scandal at the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN). If this is true, then this charismatic religious leader and broadcaster has been involved
From the Los Angeles Times Sept. 22, 2004. Ex-Worker Accusing TBN Pastor Says He Had Sex to Keep His Job. Ford believes a 1998 confidentiality deal has been broken. TBN officials deny claims. By William Lobdell Times Staff Writer September 22, 2004. A former Trinity Broadcasting Network employee who was paid $425,000 to keep quiet about his claims of a homosexual tryst with televangelist Paul Crouch has disclosed details of his complaint, saying that he had felt forced to engage in the alleged sexual acts to keep his job. Enoch Lonnie Ford, 41, said he was going public with his story because he believes TBN officials breached a confidentiality agreement that was part of a 1998 settlement that provided the payment to him.
The University of North Carolina Greenville (UNCG) has hired and kept a known sex-offender on their payroll. The following is taken from News Analysis and was written by Jason Crawford.
Sex Offender. Michaels’ OSL No Stranger to Scandal. When news began trickling out that the Office of Student Life (UNCG) had been attempting to keep on staff a registered sex offender that had committed multiple parole violations, one might expect a department blushing in the wake of such a humiliation. It might also be reasonable to imagine a great deal of self-inquiry taking place at OSL as to how the thirty-four-year-old Michael Bishop, whose criminal record included numerous charges of recent child exploitation, could receive such lax supervision if he were not following the rules prescribed under his probation. But under the leadership of Mr. Bruce Michaels, weathering a potentially embarrassing sex-related scandal is not really a novel event at OSL. Just last spring, OSL found itself near the epicenter of another controversy involving a campus visit from Tristan Taromino, a nationally known pornographer and self-proclaimed “anal sex queen.” Michaels’ department cooperated with the UNCG Wellness Center in bringing Taromino to speak, and made a joint effort with the Wellness Center to boost student attendance to the event by offering credit toward affiliated student groups that agreed to send a representative. Michaels even fielded some of the first angry phone calls that began pouring in once the circumstances of the event began breaking to the public.
It is a sad day when Baylor University (Southern Baptist) will permit homosexuals to attend their school, and then go out and demonstrate for the homosexual agenda while proudly advertising the fact that they are from Baylor University. BU is a school of the Texas Baptist Convention which is a proud member of the Southern Baptist Convention.
The North Carolina taxpayers are being taxed to support the University of North Carolina Greenville, which has hired a known sex offender. These are the times in which we live and the tide is not turning in the right way for Christians.
More Evidence of the Homosexual Advance
In France it may soon be a crime to speak out against homosexuality. Make no mistake about it, and this is their goal world wide. It has already become law in some countries, and powerful people are working in the United States and the United Nations to make this happen everywhere.
France Introduces Legislation Criminalizing “Sexist & Homophobic” Remarks. The French Parliament has introduced legislation that will make it a criminal act to make comments in public that are deemed to be offensive to homosexuals. The bill, to be considered next month, says that, “incitement to discrimination, hatred or violence against a person on the basis of gender or sexual orientation” would be punishable by a year in prison or a fine up to $54,000. The French minister of justice, Dominique Perben has followed the trend of equating homosexual “orientation” with race or sex. Perben said, “This law will put the fight against homophobia on the same level, in terms of possible legal action, as the fight against racism and anti-Semitism.” —Faith & Freedom Report
Wisconsin Pastor Faces Jail for Homosexual Demonstrations. Pastor Ralph Ovadal vows to continue to fight for the right to hold public demonstrations about the dangers of the homosexual lifestyle despite a recent court ruling. Last fall Pastor Ovadal, director of Wisconsin Christians United, was ordered off two different pedestrian overpasses in Madison as he and other believers held up banners stating, “Homosexuality is sin” and “Christ can set you free.” Ovadal had asked the courts to issue an injunction against the city to stop the authorities from harassing him or interfering with his free-speech rights. But during a hearing last week, federal Judge John Shabaz ruled against the pastor’s request. Nate Kellum is an attorney with the Center for Inalienable Rights (CIR), which represented the minister in the recent case. He says Ovadal will not stop fighting for his First Amendment rights. “The problem that he has now is that he doesn’t want to be arrested,” Kellum explains. “What he wants to be able to do is speak his piece about homosexuality without fear of arrest, and that’s the relief he’s trying to obtain in federal court.” —Faith & Freedom Report
Homosexuals can demonstrate, block traffic, shut down businesses and public buildings with little or no consequences. There are powerful lawyers and judges who will defend them, and powerful politicians are working on their behalf. Anyone who demonstrates or speaks out against their agenda is considered to be guilty of hate speech.
A pastor in Sweden was threatened with jail time and a fine for simply preaching in his church against the homosexuality.
In Canada a man bought a full page ad in the newspaper in which he showed his opposition to the homosexuals. He proved his position was right using scriptures from the Bible. He was arrested and brought before a judge for doing this. When he pled his right to freedom of speech. The ruling came down from the judge and what a surprise that was. He was told that he could place the ad, but that he would have to delete all Bible verses from the advertisement.
It is Time for Christians to Act
It is time that we shake off the lethargy and unconcern that beset. The onslaught of Satan is real and relentless. The plague of homosexuality with all of its immorality and destructive diseases is here. We cannot sit at ease in our materialistic mind-set, and prevail. Violence against this sinful way of life is not the answer. We need to pray, repent of sin, change our ways and be willing for God to work through us. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
The future of our children, grandchildren, and great grand-children is at stake. If we sit and do nothing, we will have eternity to realize our mistake. Homosexuals do not reproduce their own kind, but they recruit from among the heterosexuals for new converts to perversion.
Historical Statements Concerning Baptists And Their Origin
Historians testify that local churches; which hold the doctrines, beliefs, and practices of today’s Bible-believing, separatist Baptists; have had continuous existence since the days of Christ. This cannot be said of any other church, churches, or religious organization. Here are a few statements by historians and religious leaders (only one of them a Baptist) regarding the history of the Baptists:
Sir Isaac Newton said, “The Baptists are the only body of known Christians that have never symbolized with Rome.”
Since the Apostles
Ypeij and Dermout, eminent historians of the Dutch Reformed Church said, “The Baptists may be considered as the only Christian community that has stood since the days of the apostles, and as a Christian society has preserved pure the doctrine of the Gospel through all the ages.”
Alexander Campbell, founder of the Campbellites (Christian Church or Disciples of Christ) who rigorously opposed Baptists during the 19th century, wrote, “The sentiments of Baptists and their practice of baptism from the apostolic age to the present, have had a continued chain of advocates, and public monuments of their existence in every century can be produced.”
Robert Barclay, a Quaker historian, says of Baptists, “We shall afterward show that the rise of the Anabaptists took place prior to the Reformation of the Church of England, and there are also reasons for believing that on the continent of Europe, small hidden Christian societies, who have held many of the opinions of the Anabaptists, have existed from the times of the apostles. In the sense of the direct transmission of divine truth, and the true nature of spiritual religion, it seems probable that these churches have a lineage or succession more ancient than that of the Roman Church.”
All Christians Were Then Baptists
John Clark Ridpath, doubtlessly the greatest historian the world has ever produced and a Methodist by denomination, said, “I should not readily admit that there was a Baptist church as far back as 100 A.D., although without doubt there were Baptist churches then, as all Christians were then Baptists.”
Mosheim, an outstanding Lutheran historian, said, “Before the rise of Luther and Calvin, there lay secreted in almost all the countries of Europe, persons who adhered tenaciously to the principles of the modern Dutch Baptists . . . the origin of Baptists is lost in the remote depths of antiquity . . . the first century was a history of Baptists.”
Zwingli, a Presbyterian co-laborer with John Calvin, said, “The institution of the Anabaptists is no novelty, but for 1300 years has caused great trouble in the church.”
Catholic Cardinal Hosius, President of the Council of Trent from 1545 to 1564, said, “Were it not for the fact that the Baptists have been grievously tormented and cut off with the knife during the past 1200 years, they would swarm greater than all the reformers . . . If the truth of religion were to be judged by the readiness and boldness of which a man or any sect shows in suffering, then the opinions and persuasions of no sect can be truer and surer than those of the Anabaptist, since there have been none for the 1200 years past that have been more generally punished or that have been more cheerfully and steadfastly undergone, and have offered themselves to the most cruel sort of punishment than these people.”
Not Reformers
“Crossing the Centuries” edited by William C. King, says, “Of the Baptists it may be said that they are not reformers. These people, comprising bodies of Christian believers known under various names in different countries, are entirely distinct and independent of the Roman and Greek churches, and have an unbroken continuity of existence from apostolic days down through the centuries. Throughout this long period they were bitterly persecuted for heresy, driven from country to country, disfranchised, deprived of their property, imprisoned, tortured and slain by the thousands; and yet they swerved not from their New Testament faith, doctrine, and adherence.”
Spurgeon’s Thoughts
Spurgeon said, “History has hitherto been written by our enemies, who never would have kept a single fact about us upon the record if they could have helped it, and yet it leaks out every now and then that certain poor people called Anabaptists (Anabaptist was the name given to Baptists before the 16th century. “Ana” means “again,” but the entire name, Anabaptist, was applied to those who believed and practiced what Bible-believing, separatist Baptists do today) were brought up for condemnation. From the days of Henry II to those of Elizabeth, we hear of certain unhappy heretics who were hated of all men for the truth’s sake that was in them. We read of poor men and women, with their garments cut short, turned out into the fields to perish in the cold, and anon of others who were burnt at Newington for the crime of Anabaptism. Long before your Protestants were known of, those horrible Anabaptists, as they were unjustly called, were protesting for the one Lord, one faith, and one baptism.’ No sooner did the visible church begin to depart from the Gospel than these men arose to keep fast by the good old way. The priests and monks wished for peace and slumber, but there was always a Baptist or a Lollard tickling men’s ears with Holy Scriptures, and calling their attention to the errors of the times. They were a poor persecuted tribe. The halter was thought to be too good for them. At times, ill-written history would have us think that they died out, so well had the wolf done his work on the sheep. Yet here we are, blessed and multiplied; and Newington sees other scenes from Sunday to Sunday. As I think of the multitudes of your numbers and efforts, I can only say in wonder, What a growth!’ As I think of the multitudes of our brethren in America, I can only say, ‘What hath God wrought!’ Our history forbids discouragement’s.” (Edited by the Late B. Myron Cedarholm, D.D.) —The Baptist Vision
By C. H. Spurgeon
The minimum Christian! And who is he? The Christian who is going to heaven at the cheapest rate possible. The Christian who intends to get all of the world he can, and not meet the worldling’s doom. The Christian who aims to have as little religion as he may without lacking it altogether.
The minimum Christian goes to worship in the morning; and in the evening also, unless it rains, or is too warm, or too cold, or he is sleepy, or has the headache from eating too much at dinner. He listens most respectfully to the preacher, and joins in prayer and praise. He applies the truth very judiciously, sometimes to himself, oftener to his neighbours.
The minimum Christian is very friendly to all good works. He wishes them well, but it is not in his power to do much for them. The Sabbath-school he looks upon as an admirable institution, especially for the neglected and ignorant. It is not convenient, however, for him to take a class: his business engagements are so pressing during the week that he needs the Sabbath as a day of rest; nor does he think himself qualified to act as a teacher. There are so many persons better prepared for this important duty, that he must beg to be excused. He is very friendly to home and foreign missions, and colportage, and gives his mite, but he is quite unable to aid in the manage, for his own concerns are so excessively important. He thinks there are “too many appeals;” but he gives, if not enough to save his reputation, pretty near it, at all events he aims at it, and never over the mark.
The minimum Christian is not clear on a number of points. The opera and dancing, the theatre and card-playing, and large fashionable parties give him much trouble. He cannot see the harm in this, or that, or the other popular amusement. There is nothing in the Bible against it. He does not see but what a man may be a Christian and dance or go to the opera. He knows several excellent persons who do so; at least, so he says. Why should not he? He stands so close to the dividing-line between the people of God and the people of the world, that it is hard to say on which side of it he is actually to be found.
Ah, my brother, are you making this attempt? Beware, lest you find at last that in trying to get to heaven with a little religion, you miss it altogether; lest without gaining the whole world, you lose your own soul. True godliness demands self-denial and cross-bearing, and if you have none of these you are making a false profession.

Chapter 25, from the book “The Religion Racket.” America is like a man with a fear of cancer who will not go to a doctor because his fears might be realized. We run faster and faster and never stop to look at ourselves. Maybe it will go away . . . but we know it won’t. The sickness gnaws away, and the fear persists, but we keep turning from the truth. We try to bury this gnawing and fear under the tinsel of prosperity and pleasure, but it doesn’t work. It has become a way of life to ignore the warning signs. We know the diagnosis, but we won’t accept it. We even know the remedy but won’t use it.
We must stop and look at ourselves. Not in the light of our own publicity and not in the light of what we’d like to think we are, but we need to look at ourselves as we are in reality. Listen to the first chapter of Romans:
“When they knew God, they glorified him not as God.” The pages of history are cluttered with the wreckage of nations who followed the same downward spiral that characterizes America today. Our only distinction is that we are doing it faster. No nation can survive which, after knowing God and His blessing, rejects Him, and this is the course that America has taken. A nation which, in the very beginning, was characterized by an acknowledgment of its need of God and His blessings, now is engaged in systematically eliminating God from every aspect of its existence.
“They became vain in their imaginations.” Somewhere along the line this country began to feel it no longer needed God. Instead of acknowledging that our greatness was in Him, we began taking the credit. Our accomplishments were our own doing. We were the greatest. God? Who needs him?
“Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.” Religion followed the trend. Man-made religions that exalted man rather than God multiplied rapidly. Man was safe in the shelter of his own intellect. Religion was constantly changed to meet the current whims of the people.
“Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves.” When a nation rejects God, decay and degeneration begin. The slide into the abyss of moral perversion accelerates fast.
“Who changed the truth of God into a lie.” In this path of decline the nation eventually finds that it has completely changed directions. We made a 180-degree turn. Black is now white, error is truth, chaos is order, wrong is right, etc. On and on toward complete degeneration . . . the point of no return! We need to stop long enough to look at ourselves.
“Vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature.” We have degraded our women from the exalted place of respect and beauty to a brazen, naked symbol of sexual depravity whispering out invitations from every billboard, magazine, movie, play, book, etc.
“Men . . . burned in their lust one to another.” Men lust after men and women after women in a full expression of vile affection . . . and we are told by some religion this is as it should be! We listen as pasty faced reprobates speak of a “new morality” in which sexual depravity is declared to be the accepted thing. The sickening thing is that we listen.
“Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud; boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful.” Our children are in ever increasing numbers turning to crime. Mobs roam the streets bent on violence. Lying, cursing, and bitterness are the order of the day. Destruction, misery, and bloodshed are our daily diet and we do not know the way of peace because we have forgotten God.
We know, even when we won’t face it, that our nation today is saturated with unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness, envy, murder, pride and boasting. Have we passed the point of no return? No nation that has ever gone as far down as we are has ever come back. It can be, but never has been done. There is absolutely no hope . . . unless we are willing to look honestly at ourselves and admit what we are. America is sick, terribly sick . . . but we won’t accept the diagnosis or the remedy.
In the face of this sickening mess, religion busies itself with building bigger and better hospitals that the sick will not attend, and arguing over the ingredients of medicines that no one will take. When someone does come for help, religion responds by covering over the cancer with empty platitudes and hollow pretense and blandly announces that everything is going to be just fine. A lot of religion spends its time trying to convince dying patients that they are not really sick!
This nation has a malignancy, and religion hands them a patented happiness pill. Well . . . maybe we’ll die laughing anyhow!
—This is the last chapter from the book “The Religion Racket.”
A young man (late twenties or thirty-something) stopped in a church where I recently preached, to tell me of his devotion to rock music as a teen. Now that he’s saved, he hates rock! I asked how he now would define rock. He replied, “Noise!”
“Since there is no tune, what is the appeal, the attraction of it?” I asked.
He paused, then, “Anger!” he said.
Some parents know it as rebellion. The rock stars themselves have said from the beginning that the attraction is sex! My question is: Why then are they bringing it into churches and calling it contemporary Christian music?
—Dr. Hugh Pyle (Sword of the Lord)
Dear Pastor Bynum, Just wanted to say how much I am indebted to you. I don’t know if you will remember me, about 30yrs. ago the Lord used you and your tape ministry to ground several of us who were young Christians meeting in a home. Through the Lord’s leadership and instruction we received from you we joined an Independent Baptist Church, in VA. I eventually joined Fairfax Baptist Temple and finished their Bible school and we have been missionaries for the past 22yrs., 9 of which have been in the Philippines, we have since been in Vancouver, Canada. We greatly appreciate your faithfulness and the solid stand you have taken all these years. When so many are falling away, it is encouraging to see faithful brethren. May the good Lord continue to greatly bless you in His service. God Bless, Bro. Derrick Goette
Dear Bro. Bynum, I thought I would write you a quick note of thanks and exhortation for the stand that you all take for the Word of God, The Word of God in the flesh, and His church! My family makes mention of you in our prayers that the Lord will continue to bless His work thru you all. Thank the Lord Jesus that He promised that He would always have His church in this world till He comes back for us! May the Lord indeed bless! — Joe Hicks
Hi Pastor Bynum, I came in contact with your ministry through search engine when I was searching for a topic on false doctrine. I must confess, I have read some of the tracts placed in your ministry’s website written by you, their contents reveal your spiritual in-depth and what you stand for. In the fast changing world, where the world is in the church and the church is in the world, these days we hardly hear sound messages on separation from the world and Christian living which were the hallmark of Christian teachings in yesteryears. Proponents of sound Christian living of yesteryears have now embraced commercial Christianity. They don’t condemn sin rather they give alternative names to sin so that they would not offend their financial members. However, in the face of glaring deviation from the truth of the Bible in some churches, God has remnants that still hold tenaciously to the living and undiluted word of God. Keep on, God is with you. Regards, Nsikan Ben
Hi. I was randomly looking through church websites, when I stumbled upon Tabernacle Baptist Church. I was reading your tract list, and I have to say that your church has a lot of the same beliefs the Church I attend has. I am only 15, and I found the article on “She Maketh Herself Coverings” to be very informative. Thank you. I live in Virginia, and we are Independent Fundamental Baptists (I think is how it is all said). Well, I just wanted to let you know there are still some King James Bible Believing Christians out there! Bye.
Pastor Bynum, I am a lesbian who lives in SW Ontario, Canada. Someone mailed me one of your tracts, The Bible and Homosexuality. It is hateful and full of disinformation. I was quite shocked at its intensity. Not a grain of truth in it. I am a spiritual person who comes from a place of love. I am not religious. You are a religious person who comes from a position of hate. Interesting. I don’t know what on earth this tract has to do with the message of Jesus.. Although I am not a Christian, I know that Jesus came from a position of love and understanding. You do not. Jesus would go amongst those who were hated and judged by religions, loving and accepting them. You do the opposite, you hate and judge in the name of religion. This is all very ironic. I have yet to make a connection between Jesus and Christianity. Your tract was unsettling and frightening. The fact that people actually read and believe such disinformation is very disturbing to me. Lynn Harrington proud lesbian and activist. PS: Do not e-mail me back with Biblical quotations. They are not relevant.
Dear Pastor Bynum: God bless for your ministry more particularly for your website which helps other Baptist Christians all over the world. I am Joeven Y. Handig, Sunday School teacher of Christian Bible Baptist Church, 097 Salisay District, Dagupan City Philippines 2400. This is to ask your permission to allow me to use your lessons/messages in your website for our sunday school in our church. Please include also in your prayers our country because of the on-going financial and political crisis. Also, our country is a mission field, I pray that you consider it in your prayers to have your own mission here in the Philippines. Thank you and God bless. Bro. Joeven

Wicca On The Rise — Wicca is reportedly the fastest growing religion in America. (LeadershipU, 8/4/04) TVC, 8/3/04, reported two girls from Knox, Indiana, walked in front of a train last Saturday and were instantly killed. Police say witchcraft was involved in their decision to kill themselves. The article said the girls were 13 yrs. old. LeadershipU says that Wicca is a mixture of beliefs centered in a female deity-personification or Goddess. Wicca’s ties with feminism are hard to miss. Probe Ministries’ Russ White in his article, Christ in a New Age, “Those who have embraced this new-age understanding of humanity believe that all of the problems that man faces are a direct result of Christianity and its perceived male-centered belief system.” Beware! Following Harry Potter is not incidental entertainment. Exodus 22:18 reveals how God feels about witches. —WWM
Witches In Politics? — Self-professed witch Traci Laird spoke to U.S. News and World Report before (prior to) the GOP convention about her and her fellow witches’ protest plans. “Because of the high energy from both sides, it is a potent place for magic. There will be a private ritual . . . which will, hopefully, tap the energy of the convention for a spell to remove Bush from D.C.,” said Laird. (NewsMax.com, 9/6/04) I suspicioned some group leaders were in various positions of leadership in government. When this group of witches try to protest in eternity they will face this memorandum. (Exo. 22:18) “Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.” All the protest plans this satanic bunch can conjure up will only expose their demonic identity. —WWM
Stopping Baby Torture Unconstitutional? — U.S. District Judge Richard Casey’s Thursday court ruling in New York that the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act (PABA of 2003 is unconstitutional. (Crosswalk, 8/31/04) The judge did reveal his distaste saying the procedure was “gruesome, brutal, barbaric, and uncivilized.” How could any federal judge or others who indeed felt this way think banning such a method or murder be unconstitutional? The charter that means the most reads, “Thou shalt not kill.” (Exo. 20:13) Eliphaz would be right if he made this statement to such judges. “ . . . thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest such words go out of thy mouth?” (Job 15:13) —WWM
Guard Your Children — Linda P. Harvey, editor/publisher, writes, “An array of recent movies dealing with occult themes along with the two Harry Potter movies are persuading most youngsters (and many parents) to see sorcery as simply the product of a creative mind or a tool for personal empowerment.” (From Heresy in the Hood:) Ms. Harvey is right on target here. Many unaware parents who pay little attention to the subject matter that interest their children are in for a bundle of heartache. Wake up to the fact that Satan’s tactics and tricks are amplified today by an anti-God media, movie-makers, and TV. Young children grow into teenagers that are infatuated with the prospect of involvements they view on the screen or read in books. What is your child reading or watching? (Prov. 22:15) “Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.” —WWM
Like Jim Jones & Co.? — Animistic and spiritist religions are rampant in much of Africa. Sometimes demanding human sacrifice, the witch doctors keep entire communities in fearful submission. Christians are often accused of angering the “gods” and chased from their homes or sentenced to death for “offending” a deity . . . The Religious Liberty Prayer Bulletin reports that earlier this month Nigerian police raided at least 11 shrines and were shocked by what they found: 30 skulls, 50 decaying human corpses and five fresh dead bodies. (Crosswalk, 9/7/04) Tarot card reading and telepathic messages of a Ouija board are more than simple entertainment. It is an open door to witchcraft and spiritism. If this is tried by the Word of God it will miserably fail the test. (1 John 4:1) “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God . . .” —WWM
This Is Peaceful? — Recently two Russian planes have been downed by those believed to be terrorist. Following this, a Russian school was invaded by Muslim terrorist. The result being many innocents were killed including hundreds of school children. If this is simply a group of “radical fundamental Islamic rebels,” why are we not hearing this action disapproved by Islamic leaders? Don’t hold your breath. Not a peep has been uttered. Maybe this group had been duly disciplined and expelled from the Islamic church prior to this, or are they still in good standing? It may be politically profitable and correct to say Islam is a peaceful religion, but it is not nearly correct when it comes to the truth. Islam considers every true believer in Christ to be an heretic and a hazard to their religion. 2 Tim 3:13 “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” —WWM
Economics Takes Priority Over Morals — A high-ranking Vatican official is giving Roman Catholics some leeway in voting for politicians who support abortion rights. The Washington Post reports that Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, the Vatican’s arbiter of doctrinal orthodoxy, has written to U.S. Catholic leaders to clarify when a Catholic can vote for a candidate — even when that candidate supports abortion. Basically the clarification states that if a Catholic voter has other compelling reasons to vote for a pro-abortion candidate — such as agreeing with his economic policies — then such a choice is acceptable. (Crosswalk, 9/14/04) It may be acceptable to Catholic leaders to be led by the pocketbook over probity, but God has a different view. 1 Tim 6:10 “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” —WWM
Prayerful Decisions In Education — A public high school principal in Boca Raton, Florida, says he will not be deterred by criticism he has received for expressing his evangelical Christian beliefs. An atheist teacher at Boca Raton High School condemned principal Geoff McKee for telling staff at a recent faculty meeting that all of his significant decisions are made prayerfully. Yet another faculty member accused McKee of hiring only people from his church or those with a strong belief in God. And a Roman Catholic parent complained about McKee’s proposed “Introduction to the Bible” course. (Crosswalk, 9/14/04) John 15:18 “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.” Pray for this public school principle. He likely has few that will stand with him and his convictions. His predecessors used the McGuffy reader with no opposition. Today Satan’s crowd even wears the garment of religion to muzzle Christianity. Islam is not Christianity’s only foe. —WWM
Islam’s True Doctrine Surfaces Again — Iran has strictly proscribed the activities of its evangelical Christian citizens, closing down their churches and arresting known converts to Christianity. Under Islamic law, apostates who leave Islam are subject to the death penalty. (Crosswalk, 9/13/04) This is one more incident where Christian church activity is curtailed in a Muslim country by the Islam religion. This setting was an Assemblies of God Church conference where “at least 80 church leaders gathered.” Men and women present were arrested and some of their families have not been allowed to have contact with them. Would the ACLU care to take these 80 church leader’s case? Maybe it would just be simpler to stay where it is safe in the U.S.A. and simply suppress Christian activity here. —WWM
One By One —Manitoba became the fourth Canadian province to legalize same-sex “marriage” Sept. 16 when a judge there struck down the province’s current definition of marriage. Courts in the provinces of British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec — as well as the Yukon territory – also have legalized same-sex “marriage.” (BP, 9/16/04) It is likely all of Canada’s provinces will soon accept legalized same-sex ‘marriage.’ Liberal law makers in the U.S. are working as feverishly to bring about the same status here. The western hemisphere has led in many moves the last few centuries. This is one that the God of Heaven does not approve. Get ready for the likelihood that some mission boards will believe they are doing God’s work to send out the first gay couple as missionaries. If this comes to pass, such a couple will not use the book of Romans or the O.T. moral law in teaching and preaching or the rest of the KJV. (Lev. 20:13; Rom. 1:26,27) —WWM
U.S. Abortionist Unafraid — MONTREAL, September 10, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) — Pregnant mothers from Quebec whose unborn children are beyond 24 weeks gestation, are being sent to Wichita, Kansas for late-term abortions, at the private clinic of controversial abortionist George Tiller. Each procedure costs Canadian taxpayers at least $5000.00 U.S. and the procedure entails mortal danger not only for the unborn child but also for the mother. While late-term abortions are not illegal in Quebec, there are few abortionists willing to commit the gruesome procedure, especially since the unborn child is fully formed at the late stage of pregnancy and can in most cases survive outside the womb from 21 weeks gestation. —(Berean Call, 9/14/04)
Sex Education in Public School A Failure — A column by Janice Crouse, on the website of Concerned Women for America, offers highlights from research on sex education and parental attitudes. Among her findings are that many U.S. schoolchildren aged 5 —8 are being taught that it feels good to touch and rub body parts, while children aged 9 —12 are taught that homosexuality is as satisfying as heterosexuality, and teens from age 15 to 18 are being taught that “using erotic photographs, movies or literature will enhance sexual fantasies.” (LifeSite News.com, 2/13/04) Twenty years of such education has resulted in adding more than two dozen STDs to those known in 1960. There may be a turn to teaching abstinence but it is too late for too many. —WWM
Martyrdom Happening More Frequently — Five Afghan men who had converted to Christianity have been killed since June in separate incidents near the country’s eastern region. (Charisma, 9/21/04) Christian martyrdom is happening more frequently as the end time nears. Don’t be surprised when in our beloved nation the same treatment of true Christians will make U.S. news headlines. What will be really shocking is how many who claim to love our Lord will have so little evidence of Christianity they will be spared. (Rom. 6:17) “But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.” —WWM
Marriage Protection Amendment — Louisiana’s Marriage Protection Amendment placed this state’s “statutory definition of marriage into the state constitution and out of the hands of activist judges or public officials” as it was approved by a margin of 78% to 22%. (Talon News, 9/21/02) The state known for it’s wild Mardi Gras’ celebrations has at least shown some moral backbone in denying the God defying homosexual crowd privileges that are not theirs. Whether or not there is a need for such an amendment in civil law, the law of God strictly condemns homosexually. Not only that, the Bible clearly explains the result of living such a life-style both in word and example. Sodom and Gomorrah is a case in point. (1 Cor. 10:11) —WWM
Katie, Matt, & Rick — Rick Warren of Saddleback fame is on tour. “Warren plans to use the tour to speak to different groups of what he calls ‘cultural influencers,’ including the media and entertainment industry in New York City, military and government leaders in Washington, D.C., and business leaders, philanthropists, psychologists, religious leaders and university students in other locations — and the national convention for Mothers of Preschoolers in Nashville, Tenn., where three children’s Purpose Driven books will make their debut. (Warren’s website, 9/21/04) All this while some 10,000 churches are involved in the 40days of purpose campaign. Does this mean these churches have had no purpose until the first day of the forty? Does it likewise mean when the 40 days are consummated they cease having a purpose? Where do Katie and Matt come in? Rick is to stop by the today show on his tour. Will it impact the clientele at NBC, or is this just another book promotion? Hopefully the ‘cultural influence’ of all three will be recognized for what it is. —WWM
WCCC’s New Auditorium — Five years and thousands upon thousands of prayers later, Willow Creek Community Church held its grand opening services this past weekend in their new auditorium and more than 30,000 attended the six services. The celebration service combined the very best of music, multimedia, drama, and dance. ( WCA NewsFlash, 9/22/04) This must have been a festive occasion with giant screens and all. No doubt our heavenly Father and His Son were not greatly impressed by this show of the flesh. (Jer. 8:11) “For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.” —WWM
Actor Joins Hybels In Conference — Stephen Baldwin will once again join Bill Hybels, Mark Mittelberg, and Lee Strobel for the How to Build a Contagious Church Conference in St. Charles, Ill. (WCA NewsFlash, 9/22/04) Bill Hybels, of Willow Creek Assoc., is a mega-church guru. This conference is lauded as “a must for anyone who wants to be more effective in reaching lost people.” Maybe even some of the speakers would fit this category if the movies Baldwin stars in are any indication of his spiritual status. Very likely some of the motives and moves in this conference will indeed be contagious. May our heavenly Father immunize true believers from this infectious disease of false religion. —WWM
Don’t Preach Christ—Praise Muhammad? — The Britains are also faced with a Religious Hate Law. “In the UK . . . there are hints that at least some supporters of the law intend to use it not only to prevent incitement to religious hatred, but also to stifle legitimate criticism and debate. Speaking on BBC Radio 4"s The Moral Maze on 14 July Iqbal Sacranie, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Britain, indicated that in his view any ‘defamation in the character of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’ should be illegal under the new law.” ( Barnabas Fund, 9/1/04) There is no problem with the Muslim Council of Britain or in the U.S. legal system or liberal media if the name of Christ is dismissed or defamed. The name of our Holy God is considered undesirable conversation and His Son must not be addressed in prayer. Yet the defamation of the false god, Allah, and his pedophile prophet, Muhammad, must bear a penalty by law? Wake up America! The peaceful(?) religion is showing it’s religious fangs. —WWM
Proof In The Performance — BAGHDAD, Iraq — A video purportedly showing a British hostage pleading for his life was posted on an Islamic Web site on Wednesday, hours after U.S. officials confirmed that a second American hostage was slain this week. (Christian News Service, 9/23/04) This cannot simply be referred to as radical fundamentalist Muslim activity. It is the practice of the Muslim religion. Convert or decease! Political correctness will no more stop this kind of activity that the devil can be made a household pet. Both will dirty the domestic atmosphere and hamper living conditions. Do not accept Islam as a peaceful religion, “Neither give place to the devil.” (Eph. 4:27) —WWM
Witnessing At Work — Because of the large amount of time most Americans spend at work, many Christians recognize that the workplace provides an obvious opportunity for witnessing. But these Christians are now facing increasing opposition from their employers when they engage in witnessing activities at work. The Christian Law Association receives numerous calls and emails every day from employees who have been warned that “religion has no place in the workplace.” Some employees have even been terminated for exercising their right to religious expression. (Christian Law Assoc.)
Acts 20:20,21 Overruled — The right to tell another person about Jesus Christ or to invite them to church is being challenged across our nation. CLA regularly hears from soulwinners who face illegal barriers when they attempt to share the Gospel door-to-door in their communities. Some have been followed around by police and warned not to knock on any doors. A few have been arrested. Others have been escorted out of town when they did not obtain a solicitor’s license to go door-to-door. A few have been told they could not knock on neighbors’ doors unless they provided local authorities with the names and social security numbers of all soulwinners who were participating in a door-to-door campaign. Many city officials do not understand that such requirements on non-commercial door-to-door visitation are unconstitutional. (Christian Law Assoc.)
The Bill of Rights — Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. (#1. Ratified 12/15/1791) The free exercise of the true religion is to use God’s Word as its rule and practice. There is no law that can successfully contradict the Law of God. The godly person will delight in the law of God. (Psa. 1:2) “ . . . his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.” —WWM
Sodom & Gomorrah Religion — With more than ten denominations now permitting their clergy to perform same-sex marriage ceremonies, the Religious Institute’s Open Letter represents a growing consensus of faith-based support for full inclusion of gay and lesbian couples in civil and religious marriage. The Open Letter challenges those who use their religion to justify discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. (Crosswalk, 9/23/04)
Knocking On Lot’s Door — SCRIPTURE & TRADITION according to Religious Institute: “We find support for marriage equality in scripture and tradition in their overriding messages about love, justice, and inclusion of the marginalized. Even so, we cannot rely exclusively on scripture for understanding marriage today. For example, biblical tests that encourage celibacy, forbid divorce, or require women to be subservient to their husbands are no longer authoritative. At the same time, there are also many biblical models for blessed relationships beyond one man and one woman. Indeed, scripture neither commends a single marriage model nor commands all to marry, but rather calls for love and justice in all relationships. (Religious Institute’s open letter.) Obviously this group is reading from a wide margin version of biblical information. Space here limits the names and religions of the origin of this letter. False religion always says the KJV is no longer the authority to follow. Be aware, be awake, & be sober! (1 Thes. 5:7) —WWM
Gays Can Change — In response to radical homosexual activists, a group of former gays have posted a billboard along Interstate 64 in Richmond, Virginia that declares “change is possible.” . . . The billboard has a photo of a man who overcame homosexuality and declares “tolerance for all.” . . . Regina Griggs, executive director for PFOX, said it is ironic that gay activists want people to accept them and their lifestyle unconditionally while they blatantly discriminate against people who have overcome homosexuality. (Talon News, 9/23/04) The article declared there was no credible evidence that people are gay at birth and said it is a person’s choice. It noted also that an American Psychiatric Assoc. study from May 2000 found no replicated scientific support of “any specific biological etiology for homosexuality.” It is not a bomb-shell of news that homosexuality is a choice. Alcoholism, homosexuality, prostitution, etc. as a lifestyle can all be forsaken. But it takes repentance before God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ to permanently save from this power. —WWM
Another Nation Legalizes Gay Marriage — Spain’s Socialist government is set to legalize same-sex “marriage” this year, making it the fifth country in the world with homosexual “marriage” in at least one locality. The Socialist government is scheduled to approve “marriage” for homosexuals at its Oct. 1 cabinet meeting; it would then have to be approved by parliament, where the Socialists have 164 of the 350 seats. (BP, 9/24/04) If this comes to fruition, Spain will join Belgium & The Netherlands of the EU in legalizing same-sex marriage. Also 5 provinces in Canada and one state in the U.S. (Mass.) have passed this abominable action. When San Francisco became first publicly infected with homosexuality, some who agreed with God on this matter moved out. Other threatened to. Now the majority of CA are accepting such in governmental positions with little complaint. If the entire world becomes so spiritually off tract, it will not change our Holy God’s position. Re-read Gen. 19; Rom. 1; Exo. 20:13. —WWM
PK Plans To Impact Society, Ties With Messianic Jews — Promise Keepers leaders are planning a new strengthening of ties between evangelicals and Messianic Jews. Messianic Jews believe Jesus is the Messiah but consider themselves Jewish and observe Jewish rituals. Jewish religious leaders, however, consider them Christian and are offended by their efforts to evangelize Jews (8/14 H. Times). PK, known for its arena and stadium events, recently began taking stands on social issues (8/16 Agape Press) saying it is changing from a movement to a mission. (Calvary Contender, hereafter CC)
No Light From Moon — Sun Myung Moon’s Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, formerly known as the Unification Church, has started a series of seminars on the Divine Principle to recruit 12,000 Christian ministers to “take down their Crosses” and follow Moon’s teachings (8/9 C. News). He claims to be the new Messiah and have direct revelation from God. He makes the blasphemous claim that Jesus failed His mission. Yet, some big name evangelicals (e.g., Jerry Falwell) have spoken at his functions. —CC
U.S. Aids Funding Problems — The U.S. has committed $15 billion over five years to help AIDS victims, but has so far drawn disdain for our abstinence-friendly AIDS policies. (7/31 World). Some wonder why communist Vietnam, with state-funded abortions and a non-epidemic, was the choice to receive U. S. AIDS money. —CC
NEA’s Leftist Agenda For Our Children — The National Education Association is a powerful labor union whose goal is to nationalize our education system with the NEA in control. It was founded in 1857 but in 1917 was taken over by socialist progressive educators and became a powerful subversive labor union in the 1960s. (8/23 New Amer.) In the process, with the NEA in control, a “dumbing down” and moral corruption of our children has occurred in preparation for acceptance of a socialistic new world order. The NEA is active in destroying our traditional morality (homosexuality?) and supports “family planning” (abortion?). —CC
Warren Court’s Activist Legacy — Since the late 1950s, the Warren Court “dictatorship of nine judges” de-Christianized our public schools: Prayer and Bible readings were abolished and a radically secularist relentless war to remove all expressions and symbols of Christianity from our public square was launched. A few more examples of judicial activism (“legislating from the bench”): Judges have declared pornography, nude dancing in beer halls, and burning the American flag to be constitutionally-protected speech; created new rights for criminals; declared abortion a constitutional right of all women, declared homosexuality a protected right; and outlawed the death penalty for a generation. Children’s Books Glorify The Occult — Books, movies, music, and video games increasingly are making the occult seem acceptable. Since Harry Potter became a publishing sensation [J.K. Rowling’s books have sold over 250 million copies!], the children’s book market has been swamped with fantasy books that glorify paganism and the occult. So writes a charismatic Anglican priest in his new popular book Shadowmancer reviewed in the 8/04 Charisma. —CC
