This question is asked but once in all the Bible. It is immediately answered in the next verse. "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved." He who knew no sin, became sin (Offering) for us. (See II Cor. 5:21). Who asked this question? A poor, lost and frightened jail keeper. This unwise question is always asked by unsaved people. They naturally believe they must do something to appease God's wrath; to make amends for their sins and ease an accusing conscience. They wrongly think God hates and seeks their destruction. They only see God's flaming LAW They have failed to hear John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever beleiveth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Since seeing God's LAW only condemns, they need by faith see Calvary's blessed CROSS, where Jesus paid it all. "I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish." John 10:28

The question a lost soul should need ask is, WHAT HAS BEEN DONE?, and not, what must I do? All the Rites, Rituals, Reforms and Religions, will only deceive and damn and divert lost souls from the Saviour of sinners. "The GIFT of God is ETERNAL LIFE." Rom. 6:23. "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by FAITH without the DEEDS of the LAW." Rom. 3:28. "For ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Rom. 3:23. "Being justified FREELY by His Grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus." Rom. 3:24. "The Gospel" is described. (See I Cor.15:3, 4) Paul spoke of "Another Gospel". Gal. 1:6. Some make Ritualism, Circumcision and Baptism "another Gospel." God loves lost people and Jesus came to "seek and save that which was lost." Jesus said, "Come unto ME (not the priest, not the Church) and be ye saved." " . . . Him that cometh to me I will in no wise east out." John 6:37. The Bible says: "Every idle word shall (come into) judgment." Matt. 12:36. "The thought of foolishness is sin . . . " Proverbs 24:9. "ALL have sinned" "The wages of sin is death." "The soul that sinneth shall surely die." "All we like sheep have gone astray . . . and the Lord bath laid on Him the iniquity of us all." Isaiah 53:6.

I ask you lost man, "How many people must you kill to be a murderer? If you kill one and tell the judge you have reformed, would you be freed? The Bible says, "By the OBEDIENCE of ONE (Christ) shall many be made righteous." Rom. 5:19. That was perfect obedience. "Whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in ONE point, he is GUILTY of ALL." James 2:10. How obedient have you been? Our obedience is as "filthy rags". (See Isaiah 64:6). The Bible says we are "condemned already". WHY? NOT because we sinned, but "because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." John 3:18.

God doesn't save good people, there aren't any. "All have sinned." "There is none that doeth good, no, not one." Rom. 3. 23, 12. In Luke 15, the prodigal son came home, not for a baptistry to get rid of hog pen filth; not for a better or good robe of the son that stayed at home; but the Father sent his servant and got the BEST ROBE and clothed a poor sinner in His own righteousness. Lost soul listen, you my lost friend can have that perfect righteousness by simple FAITH in His atoning death for you at the CROSS. Disbelief, and not dis-obedience is your damning sin. Your BELIEF on Christ, and not your Behavior is counted for righteousness. Why not accept this free gift?

Adam and Eve tried their own fig leaves for a covering, but it failed. But God made "coats of skins, and clothed them." (That required the DEATH of animals a type of Christ's death.) Cain and Abel revealed both the ways; one to hell, the other to heaven. One a bloodless religion of works; the other FAITH in the death of the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world. This trail of BLOOD has saved lost souls for near 6000 years. "The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." I John 1:7.

Jesus became a man (Virgin Birth) and obeyed every jot and title of the Law, for man. He completely satisfied its penalty at the CROSS. He said in His dying breath, "IT IS FINISHED." Why try to add my obedience ("filthy rags")??? God said, I AM SATISFIED. Isaiah 53:11. Are we satisfied.

Dear lost soul, your question is not "What shall I DO to be saved?", but "What shall I DO with Jesus?" (The complete remedy). He settled the SIN problem. You face the SON question, "As many as RECEIVED Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that BELIEVE on His name." John 1:12 "What shall I do with Jesus?" Matt. 27:22. "Receive Him" NOW. "He that BELIEVETH on the Son hath everlasting life." John 3:36. "They shall never perish." John 10.28. Jesus said, "Behold I stand at the door and knock." Rev. 3:20. Lost soul, let HIM IN. "In HIM was LIFE." John 1:4 "This LIFE is in His SON." I John 5:11. I plead with you lost soul; DON'T turn Him away, but RECEIVE HIM today.
