SBC Announces 5 Years in Bed with Whore of
Revelation. "Sixteen U.S. Catholic
and Southern Baptist officials released a statement Sept. 23 describing
where the two faiths agree. . . The statement, finalized in a meeting two
weeks earlier in Washington, is the first report of annual conversations
between representatives of the two groups that have been going on without
publicity for five years. The participants, appointed by the interfaith
witness evangelism team of the Southern Baptist North American Mission Board
and the Catholic Bishops' Secretariat for Ecumenical and Interreligious
Affairs, said the 1,600-word report is . . . an account of topics the group
has discussed, processes that have been followed and a clarification of
terms used in the discussions. Southern Baptist and Roman Catholic participants
`share a great deal in our Christian faith concerning the authority and
truth of the Bible,' the statement says. . . According to the statement,
`Southern Baptists and Roman Catholics believe in the Triune God, the Father,
the Son and the Holy Spirit, and we confess the full deity and perfect humanity
of Jesus Christ.' Both groups `find these truths of faith in God's written
word, the sacred Scriptures,' . . . Both groups define revelation as `God's
free self-communication to the world' through nature, the human heart and
the books of the Old and New Testaments. . . Catholics and Southern Baptists
both hold that `God's revelation takes place in history and develops through
the biblical tradition.'. . . One Catholic participant said the report would
help dispel erroneous perceptions that Southern Baptists and Catholics have
of each other. . . `It should also lay the common ground for witness together
and help those already engaged in Bible study in local situations,' he added."

the Southern Baptist Convention. Yet, we continue to hear from people, that
tell us that the SBC has changed, and has now repudiated liberalism.)
Shall We Gather at the Reruns? Fans of Mayberry's Andy, Opie and Barney Fife are, packing the fellowship hall at Twickenham Church of Christ of Huntsville, Alabama. As many as 200 watch an episode of The Andy Griffith Show projected life-size on a wall each week, USA Today said. They think about the moral values and Christian principles illustrated in the show, then study what the Bible says about honesty, truthfulness, prejudice, integrity and character ... More than two dozen church leaders around the country have contacted Fann [one of two church members who started the sessions] about starting similar discussion groups. Religion Today, 4/1/99 (Comments by ELB: What ever happened to the idea that churches are to preach and teach the Word of God. On second thought, all congregations of the Church of Christ would be better off listening to Barney Fife, rather than their soul damning doctrine.) ELB
The Netherlands Are Set to Become the First Nation to Legalize the Euthanasia of Children as Young as Age 12, Even If The Parents of the Child Object. A bill brought before the Dutch parliament is expected to pass despite opposition from Christian groups, would give physicians immunity from prosecution for taking the life of their patients as long as the physician followed state-approved procedures. In the case of children between the ages of 12 and 15 the physician has the authority to kill the patient over the objection of the child's parents if the physician is convinced that to do so would, "prevent serious detriment to the patient." Though euthanasia has been tolerated in the Netherlands for years, the passage of this measure will finally make it fully legal. Charismatic Roman Catholics Dance For Revival. More than 100,000 Roman Catholics attended an energetic service at Rio de Janeiro's Maracana stadium. They danced, sang, and clapped along with nine singing priests who performed upbeat versions of church hymns, Reuters said. "There's a massive turnout today. We want this event to show that the church's armsare open to everyone," Rev. Zeca, a rock musician-turned priest, told the crowd. The priests performed with 11 Catholic bands, 300 dancers, and 1,500 youth singers. The crowd also did 15 minutes of "God's Aerobics," jumping in praise and worship. The event was broadcast live on two television stations and four radio stations. Eugenio Sales, an archbishop, celebrated Mass for the crowd after the show. ...Energetic young priests are revitalizing Brazil's Catholic Church, news reports say. The leader of the movement is Marcelo Rossi, a charismatic who is challenging stereotypes of Catholic priests. "I don't go where there are saints, but where there are those that are sick," Rossi said. "My brother (Zeca) and I are trying to change the image of the priest as an effeminate, a milksop, and an alcoholic." Religion Today, 10-14-99 (Bold face heads are by ELB)
Billy Graham Uses Night Club Singer For Revival. Billy Graham begins four days of evangelistic services in St. Louis this week. Churches and ministries are sponsoring the Greater St. Louis Crusade at the Trans World Dome Oct. 14-17, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association said. "As the new millennium approaches, we remain dependent on your prayers, so God will honor our efforts and bring a great evangelistic harvest to St. Louis and the surrounding areas," Graham said. ...Musicians Charlie Daniels and Michael W. Smith will perform, and dc Talk and Kirk Franklin will do a concert for teens and young adults Saturday night. A Kidz Gig for preteen-agers will be held Saturday morning with drama and singing. Love in Action, a local ministry, will collect Bibles, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, socks, razors, and laundry detergent for distribution to the needy. Religion Today, 10-14-99 (Bold face heads are by ELB. Do you remember the great music that once was a part of the Billy Graham Crusades? Now it is night club singers like Charlie Daniels and dc Talk and contemporary rock and rollers and that furnish the music.) ELB
A Charismatic Catholic Preaches to the Pope. Rev. Raniero Cantalamessa delivers homilies to Pope John Paul II and about 60 bishops and cardinals every Friday during Lent and Advent, The Washington Post said. The pope appointed him in 1980, three years after Cantalamessa received the "baptism of the Holy Spirit," an experience described in the Book of Acts that empowers Christians with spiritual gifts to heal others and speak in unknown tongues. ...The experience altered Cantalamessa's ministry, he said. He said he felt convinced of "the truth of the manifestation of the Spirit" and left his prestigious teaching post at the University of Milan to spread the message that the God is moving in a greater way. He frequently "sings in tongues a beautiful way of prayer without passing through words." ...Cantalamessa, a Franciscan friar, recently spoke at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Vienna, Va. He discussed the modern application of spiritual gifts and exhorted congregants to do more to evangelize their friends and neighbors. "Jesus is Lord. God raised Him from the dead. And if you believe that in your heart, you are what?" he asked the crowd. "Saved!" they replied in unison. ...Pope John Paul II supports the charismatic movement in the Catholic Church. "The current holy father is favorably disposed to charismatic renewal," Francis Sullivan, a Jesuit priest and Boston College professor, said. The movement, which began in the 1960s, continues to spread in developing nations, but has slowed somewhat in the United States, he said. He witnessed people "singing in tongues" in 1975 in St. Peter's Basilica, he said. (Religion Today, 9-8-99) ELB
Falwell And Charismatics at Todd Meeting. Cecil Todd's 50-year celebration at Branson, Missouri, April 5-9, 1999, features Jerry Falwell, Bob Harrington, Rod Parsley, Jesse Duplantis, and Tommy Barnett as speakers (12/98 Charisma). Jake Hess will perform. A conference last April also hosted by Cecil and Linda Todd featured John Hagee, Jim Bakker, Bob Harrington, John Maxwell, and a couple of TBN charismatics as speakers (5/1 CC). Calvary Contender, Dec. 15, 1998
Ted Turner Vs. Christianity - Ted Turner believes The Ten Commandments "are out of date." (Federalist, 3/12/99) He said, "...I don't know if [prohibiting] adultery should be one of them," and that Christian themselves are "dummies." That is not all Turner doesn't know. Try breaking God's "band" and "He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision." (Psa. 2:4) Better get accustomed to bowing your knee, Ted. It's coming. (Isa. 45:23) - (W. W. Mosley, hereafter WWM)
Clinton Endorses Adding Sexual Orientation To ENDA - A proposed congressional measure, the Employment Nondiscrimination Act, adds "sexual orientation" to the classifications now receiving protection in the workplace. (Baptist Press, 9/10/99) President Clinton has endorsed the inclusion of "sexual orientation" being protected equal to race, creed, religion, and handicapped. Homosexuals as well as adulterers are handicapped with sin. - WWM
US Army Recognizes Witchcraft As Religion - "The United States army has now officially recognized witchcraft as a religion." (Federalist, 05/28/99) This report is from the department of military readiness. "Chaplains" have been appointed to oversee the pagan ceremonies at five bases. A Pentagon spokesman says that at least 100 witches are in a Wicca coven at Fort Hood in Texas. How could even a Protestant chaplain conduct such a service. Quite a difference in the blessed Savior and a broom stick. What happened to "one nation under God?" "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance." (Psa. 33:12; See also Psa. 144:15) - WWM
Hillary #1 Among Most Admired - Earlier this year Hillary Rodham-Clinton rated first among the "most admired" women. (Federalist, 1/08/99) She was followed by Oprah Winfrey, Elizabeth Dole, Margaret Thatcher, and Barbara Bush. Polls are usually selective when seeking opinions. This should tell us something about America's selection of heros. I wonder if the President voted in this poll? - WWM
Minnesota Governor Criticizes Christianity - Christians in Minnesota should flood their capital with letters of disapproval of their newly elected Governor. Former wrestler, Jesse Ventura, has muscles in areas not restricted to below the neck. For a head of state to agree to be interviewed by such a magazine as "Playboy" evidences an electorates spiritual status. Ventura's feeling toward Christianity? "Organized religion is a sham and a crutch for weak-minded people who need strength in numbers." (AP, St. Paul, Minn., Sept. 29; NBC's Today Show, 9/30/99) His also said, "...legalizing prostitution should be considered but is an unpopular idea because of religion." How long will it be before people who elect such leaders will agree? One day he will stand before the Lord Jesus who organized His church. (Matt. 16:18; Rom. 14:11) I pray every time Ventura turns his salary into cash "In God We Trust" will burn his palm and his heart. - WWM
ACLU Opposes Banning Books - No Christian should be surprised at any action of the ACLU. Although their title begins with "American" their action is un-American. Texas public schools have banned sensual books and raised the ire of ACLU. "You can't educated children by denying them access," said Marni Sundberg of ACLU. (LAJ, 9/30/99) One banned book, "Primates: A Higher Intelligence," for 7 year-olds promoted "evolution and had pictures of naked men." Another for young boys, "What's Happening to my Body?," was banned "for sexually explicit material." The ACLU wants to ban prayer in school and promote this rot! Satan is using this group to "train up a child" in the way he wants them to go.- WWM
Baptist Evangelization Of Jews Compared to Nazi Holocaust - The 1996 Southern Baptist Convention's annual meeting urged Baptists to "direct our energies and resources" to evangelism among Jews. (LAJ, 9/30/99) Anti-Defamation League director, Abraham Foxman wrote in a letter to Paige Patterson, president of SBC, this prayer call was "an arrogant way of denigrating the Jewish religion..." Foxman said this invited "theological hatred" compared to that in Europe which prepared the way for the Nazi Holocaust. Jesus also came to His own 2,000 years ago and they received Him not. (John 1:11) To those who did receive Him "to them gave He power to become the sons of God," not the sons of Abraham only. - WWM
Billy Graham Disagrees With SBC On Evangelization - Southern Baptist Evangelist Billy Graham must disagree with the SBC's plan on "Evangelism among Jews." His said in an interview with Robert Schuller, "He's (God) calling people out of the world for His name, whether they come from the Muslim world, or the Buddist world,...the non-believing world, they are members of the Body of Christ..." (PBC, 9/99, p. 5) The "non-believing world" certainly includes the Jews. (John 6:64). Graham obviously believes the Jews do not need to know Jesus to enter heaven. - WWM
NM Governor Wants To Legalize Dope - New Mexico Gov. Johnson "voiced support Wednesday for legalizing...marijuana and heroin." (LAJ, 9/30/99) He joins Gov. Jesse Ventura in this move. This is nothing short of, "The wicked walk (ing) on every side, when the vilest men are exalted." (Psa. 12:8) - WWM
Fools Feeding On Foolishness - NY Mayor Giuliani has declared war on putrid paintings. He plans to cut "all city funding to the Brooklyn Museum of Art over" plans to "display a black Madonna decorated with elephant dung and pornographic cutouts." (New York, [AP], LAJ, 9/30/99) The mayor's Senate seat opponent, First Lady Hillary says "the mayor should keep his hands off the city's museums." All this in the name of First Amendment rights. (Prov. 15:2,14) Hillary can't even keep her own man's hands off the interns. - WWM
France Says Unmarried Couples/Homosexuals Same As Married - France's National Assembly passed a new law granting some of the same legal rights to unmarried couples, including homosexuals, that married couples have. (Catholic World News, 10/14/99) In America it takes no "legal" action or new law for such groups to possess "rights." The president and the news media will provide enough sympathy and coverage to enhance their privileges. - (WWM)
Children Abandoned To Psychiatry - Dr. T. P. Nun, MD; Th. D., Professor of Psychology, Agape College says, "Nothing measures the quality of a society better than how it treats its children. In America today, children as a group are in trouble, and psychiatry is moving in to take over." Psalms 127:3 says, " Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward." Society has stolen this heritage and reward of the Lord and offered them on the altar of political correctness. When national and state leaders make a mockery of true Christianity we can expect nothing short of Columbine warfare. - WWM
One World Church Inevitable - As surely as a one world government is in the making so also is the one world church. Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbott says, "...within the next hundred years...nationhood as we know it will be obsolete; all states will recognize a single, global authority." (Drudge Report, 10/9/99) The WCC was organized for the purpose of a global church and some Baptist organizations have joined in. Will the "seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal" (Rom. 11:4) please stand? - WWM
Secular Psychiatry/Psychology Harmful - Dr. David M. Carnrike says the first session with clients "are devoted to trying to correct unbiblical information they have been given during their time with psychiatrists, and other so called Christian psychologists who practice secular psychology." Its seems the first requirement of a life-guard would be not only to know how to swim but how to teach others to swim. Drowning humanity need to know more than they are in trouble. They also need to make it safely to shore. Read Matt. 15:9 and Col. 3:16. - WWM
APA Backpedals On Pedophilia - The American Psychological Association under pressure has apologized for a published article which said that child molestation with "willing" children might not be harmful (7/99 NLJ). In 1975, the APA declared homosexuality to be normal. - Calvary Contender
