Homosexual Activist Admits Movement Built on Lies. The managing editor of a leading homosexual activist publication admitted that the homosexual movement is making political and social gains based on numerous and deliberate lies. Gareth Kirkby of Xtra West said in an editorial entitled "No Need to Lie" that activists should cease using the "born that way" explanation for homosexuality. Kirkby said.... "Personally,... I chose to be gay...." Kirkby also said, activists purposely inflate the number of homosexuals in the U.S."Why is it that some of us continue to bend and twist and otherwise play loose with (often outdated) so-called facts? Why, for example, do we continue to insist that 10% of the overall population is gay or lesbian?" he asked.... "This tendency [for homosexual activists] to exaggerate may go all the way back to our spiritual forefather, Alfred C. Kinsey," he said, citing numerous bogus statistics publicized by the researcher. President Clinton And Gay Pride Month. The president once again showed his strong homosexual sympathies by designating June as "Gay and Lesbian Pride Month." What a disgrace that this Southern Baptist would do that. Paige Patterson, president of the Southern Baptist Convention called upon the Immanuel Baptist Church, Little Rock, Arkansas to discipline the president. This is the Church where his membership is located. Of course they will not do so, for that is the Church that helped to produce his thinking on homosexuality and abortion. Paige Patterson said, that the president's proclamation is "in keeping with his own immorality, and it is further in keeping with his own dishonesty." Baptist Press - ELB

`Gay Pride' Banners Flying as SBC Meets in Atlanta. As the Southern Baptist Convention met in Atlanta, Georgia, June 15-16, 600 banners proclaiming "Gay and Lesbian Pride Month" were flying on city light poles. Needless to say the Southern Baptists were not too happy with this. They could do nothing about, because the mayor had proclaimed June as "Gay and Lesbian Pride Month." A Gay and Lesbian Pride Festival is scheduled for the city June 25-27. Baptist Press - ELB

A "TV Scoreboard" published by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) lists 25 shows -- including "Chicago Hope," "ER," "Spin City," "The Simpsons," "Suddenly Susan" and "Mad About You" -- that featured gay, lesbian and/or transgender prime-time characters during the fall `98 lineup..."It's vital for teens to see gay characters on television," says Scott Seomin, GLAAD's entertainment media director. "When a gay teen in Iowa sees Jack on `Dawson's Creek' portrayed as loved, talented and accepted, it sends a strong message that he can be those things, as well." Marilyn Manson Lyrics Kill. Recently when in North Dakota, I walked into a motel "memory room" with pictures on the walls of young people who had died. There was a large quilt on the bed with pictures of the quilter's son on every square--snapshots of different years of his life. I thought it was an AIDS quilt. No! The young, fifteen year old son had committed suicide. It was shocking! He took his own life because of Marilyn Manson "music!" I looked at his face--so young! It broke my heart! Most of the others in the snapshots had died for the same reason. This was not a room set up by a preacher for soul-winning or for a soapbox against rock and roll music. It was a "memory room" for a dead boy--part of the "Goth" society! A boy who succumbed to the lyrics of a man who dresses like a woman and who calls himself "Marilyn Manson." Paige Patterson (President of SBC) railed against modern worship service practices in a speech that rallied conservatives. He urged the delegates to reject "12-minute sermonettes generated by the "felt needs" of an assembled cast of postmodern listeners, augmented by drama and multiple repetitions of touchy-touchy, feely- feely music." Believers should be moved by the actual Scriptures rather than by creative interpretations of them, he said. "For most Baptists it is settled forever we believe every syllable of the Word of God to be absolutely true." Patterson, who also heads Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, received a positive response, although many moderate Baptists did not attend the convention, the Associated Press reported. For years, conservatives and moderates have clashed over theological stands codified at the annual conventions. (ELB: Many Southern Baptist Churches are lining up with the purpose driven church movement headed by Rick Warren and Bill Hybels. When they do, they are doing the very thing that Patterson is preaching against.)

Washington Post Announces Same-Sex Unions - Same-sex unions now appear in Friday Style section of the Washington Post. (Federalist Digest, 5/19/99) Homosexual activist are protesting the "announcements not running" in Wednesday's regular Wedding section. It would be enlightening to this group if they had a copy of the Sodom and Gomorrah Chronicle the day following God's fiery judgment on such activity. - WWM

Covenant Of Unity Signed - Baptist & Catholics - Catholic Bishop Rodriques sponsored a "Jubilee Pledge for Charity, Justice, and Peace" Sunday, May 30 th . (LAJ, 5/31/99, pg. 1) The article said almost 5,000 Catholics fill the "exhibit hall at Lubbock (TX) Memorial Civic Center" to celebrate "Holy Trinity Sunday." The covenant of "charity, justice and peace" was also signed by other denominational leaders. Such as "Rev." D.L. Lowrie, pastor of Lubbock's First Baptist Church, Rabbi Heidi Coretz, and representatives from Lutheran, United Methodist, Presbyterian, and Salvation Army, etc. churches. "Rev." Charles Johnson, pastor of Second Baptist Church also signed the covenant. I wonder if these Baptist pastors have lost their copy of "The Trail of Blood" by J.M. Carroll, SBC pastor at the turn of the century. Maybe they just don't want one. - WWM

Pope Blesses Parking Garage - Completed and blest just in time for the millennial celebrations when tens of millions of pilgrims infiltrate Vatican City. (LAJ, 6/3/99, p. 2A) John Paul II "invoking divine protection for the building" must make millions feel much safer when they park in the underground facility. And Baptist pastors are duped into signing a covenant with this deceptive religion. The parking public better look at the construction of the building rather than their Catholic boss for safety. - WWM

Farrakhan's Mysterious Illness - The doctor of Nation of Islam leader, Louis Farrakhan denies that his sickness is deathly serious. Although the Islamic Final Call said Farrakhan is "struggling to overcome the forces of death." (LAJ, 3/20/99) The good doctor's pronouncement of health said, "This should serve notice to all of the vultures who are hovering over what they expect to be a dead carcass that you can go home." As in all false religions every one feels they are best qualified to lead the flock. Some Baptist organizations are this way. - WWM

Graham Says Spiritual Renewal Among Young - Katy `Mini-Skirted' Couric interviewed Billy Graham on the Today Show 6/9/99. Mr. Graham made some startling statements as usual. "There is a spiritual renewal among the young people today." He accompanied that statement with "...we use music to attract our young people." If the `Hot Hearts' group which is sponsored by Southern Baptist Churches, et al that come to Lubbock is any indication of a spiritual renewal it is the wrong spirit. Some of the music the Graham's use to draw young people can hardly be classified as `spiritual.' - WWM

People Returning To Religion - Mr. Graham also said on the Today Show 6/9/99 that "people are returning to religion" in America. He didn't say what religion. If we follow our president it means attending a liberal Methodist church with at least one member, Hillary Clinton, who says Islam is a "great religion." Although our service people are fighting for the rights of a Muslim nation we can be sure that religion would not fight for our freedom to worship but on the contrary are denying it in other places in the world. - WWM

Gambling Panel Asks Aid For Gambling Addiction - Along with recommending a curb on opening more casinos and lotteries the federal panel also asked "insurance companies and managed care providers to cover treatment plans for pathological gamblers." (LAJ, 6/4/99) This is like asking the surviving chickens to clean up the mess of feathers left by the well fed fox. Why don't the advocates admit they made a bad maneuver in legalizing gambling. There is no room for "chance" in life and certainly not in death. - WWM

Campaign Contributions From Gambling - A nine-member commission approved a final report to be released 6/18/99 that would ban campaign contributions from gambling. This is the date the National Gambling Impact Study Commission will make its recommendations to Congress, the president, and others. While this commission was wrapping up its study of the gambling industry "House Minority Leader Richard Gephardt flew to Las Vegas to pick up a $250,000 check from the chairman of Mirage Casinos." (Lubbock A-J, 06/07/99) Talk about beating the odds! - WWM

Senior Citizens Gambling Problem - Difficult as it is to believe many retired people gamble away their holding. The ire of Satan against holiness is not confined to tempting the young or middle aged. Every possible method the devil can conceive of to destroy humanity is sure to be implemented in the last days and gambling is of the devil. From the local to the state and federal level of government, legalization of gambling has risen under the guise of funding everything from education to retirement. The truth is legalized gambling cost the taxpayers much more than the revenue it produces. Yet that is not the most corrupt thing about it. It is biblically wrong and a sin against a holy God. (Rom. 1:17) "For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith." (Hab. 2:4; Gal. 3:11; Heb. 10:38) - WWM

Rights(?) Rally For Texas Gay Youths - As 100 rainbow-clad gay and lesbian youths rallied at the Texas Capitol one male youth was shouting, "Why shouldn't I take my boy friend to the prom?" (Austin [AP], LAJ, 3/21/99) This group rally was to ban discrimination "against public school students and teachers based on sexual orientation." They are also against God. (Deut. 23:17) At least 350 such events would follow this one in every state plus Washington DC and Puerto Rico. - WWM

Russian Alcoholism - With an alcoholic for a president, Russia as a nation is saturated(!) with alcoholism. As a leader goes so the nation. Alcohol poisoning killed 23,986 last year in Russia. If this was in the US there would be an appointment of a panel to survey the best way to drink sensibly. Not one peep would be sounded about "do not drink," period! (Prov. 20:1) - WWM

ACLU Defends Profanity User - An 1897 Michigan law prohibiting use of profanity in the presence of women and children was enforced last August. Timothy Joseph Boomer's canoe capsized on a river trip dumping him in the water and brought a loud tirade of profanity pouring from his mouth. Guess who comes to the rescue of Boomer in court? It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's the high-flying American Civil Liberties Union. Their defense? Freedom of speech. The ACLU lawyer said "...the law is rarely enforced because prosecutors know it is unconstitutional." (LAJ, 6/10/99, p.1) Seems "...the mouth of fools" continue to pour "...out foolishness." (Prov. 15:2) - WWM

Bamboozling "Bill" Bypasses Bounds - Once again President Clinton reveals his conniving spirit. He appointed avowed homosexual James Hormel as ambassador to Luxembourg while the Senate was recessed and could not counter. (Baptist Press, 6/8/99) Hormel is an heir to the celebrated meat fortune and actively supports many homosexual causes financially. It is not a new thing for the president and vice-president to pitch their tent toward Sodom. - WWM

ACLU Stops Individual Graduation Prayer - The invocation at a Calvert County, Maryland high school was stopped because one 18 year old objected and obtained the help of the ACLU. How did the crowd respond at the commencement exercises? The majority of parents, students, and others followed the lead of a man who stood and began reciting the Lord's prayer aloud. (Baptist Press, 6/4/99) Last year the same boy refused to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. Again the ACLU came to the rescue. It would be interesting to follow this young man's life. Society will likely be blamed for any wrong doing which follows. - WWM

Times Man Of The Century Rating - In the online polls for Man of the Century campaign Yitzhak Rabin, slain prime minister of Israel moved into top spot followed by Adolf Hitler. Elvis Presley captured third place following Hitler. In the top 10, Pope John Paul II and Martin Luther King were just ahead of Billy Graham. This surely doesn't sound like the list in Hebrews chapter 11. (Washington Post News Service, 6/6/99) - WWM

CCM Interprets For Billy Graham - Billy Graham said, "Contemporary Christian music sometimes acts like an interpreter for me. Although the message remains the same, our methods often must change in order to communicate that message." (Baptist Press, 6/9/99) The forty-two thousand young people of different nationalities and denominational backgrounds crowded into the RCA Dome to listen to the rock bands...not the Gospel of Christ. 1 John 2:15 applies to Billy Graham as well as those less notorious. - WWM

The Blasphemy Of CCM - Mark Stuart of Audio Adrenaline said the entire band was dedicated to proclaiming Christ. He said, "We want kids today to see they can have a good time and be a Christian." (Baptist Press, 6/9/99) Biblically "Christian" was attached to those who followed Christ. It can hardly be said of Jesus that He enjoyed the cross. (Heb. 12:2; Rom. 6:6) He continued, "We put on a real rock `n' roll show, but Jesus Christ is our hero, and we try to get kids' eyes off of us and on to him." Stuart is a liar on both accounts. Rock and roll appeals to the flesh and brings glory to the performers. Nowhere does the Bible indication being a Christian is fun but often reveals the joy of suffering for the Savior. Audio Adrenaline was one of three such bands Billy Graham used in his Indiana crusade. They also performed for the Pope on his recent visit to the U.S.. - WWM

Catholics And Lutherans Re-united - An Online Associated Press release (6/11/99) said Catholics and Lutherans "have ended a nearly 5-century-old dispute over how people achieve salvation." "Rev." Ismael Noko, general secretary of the Lutheran World Federation, said it was "a decisive step forward in the process of reconciliation." The chicks are coming home to the mother hen. Charismatic Dancing - Many charismatics say dance has become an integral part of the fresh wind of renewal blowing around the world. The 4/99 Charisma says: "Whether it's graceful, choreographed ballet, `stomping' in the street for Jesus or dancing spontaneously as the Holy Spirit leads, one thing is certain: God is leading His people to worship Him with their feet." The article speaks of losing inhibitions and having a "really big celebration in Jesus' name...dancing and praising..." It said dancing helps non-Christians enter into worship! Dance is dangerous and could lead to sensual temptation.-Calvary Contender
