New Tactic Old Neglect - After two decades of the AIDS epidemic, a new experiment of prevention was begun two years ago. New England's largest AIDS education agency is recruiting those at greatest risk to spread the "gospel of prevention." One recruit $5; three for $25. "Since it began...1,002 people have become acolytes... (preventatives usage) has climbed substantially, and rates of having sex while high on drugs or alcohol have fallen markedly, according to a study..." of Peer Action. (Boston Globe, 8/7/02) Those recruited "were given a questionnaire about their sexual behavior and counseling on how to engage in sex and drug use that diminished their risk." These people already know how to do it; they need to be told to stop! Like all previous prevention campaigns, this is sure to fail. It merely finances the addiction. Why not simply teach the Bible principle of restraint outside of marriage, and that homosexuality is a sin against God? This is the only thing that will work. It will work best when the Gospel of salvation is primary and America admits failure in her endeavors in all things apart from Divine intervention and guidance from God and His Word. But that would be too simple...the experts would be without a job and all the hype about safe sex would be hushed. -(W. W. Mosley, hereafter WWM.)
Is Country Music Harmful? - Some equate country/western music with patriotism. Yet like all worldly entertainment the likelihood of damage to Christianity and patriotism rises with each new release. Steve Earle, country music's Grammy Award nominee, is one such danger. This music artist(?) once considered himself a Marxist, and may remain slanted in that direction. His latest music is about American traitor John Walker Lindh. Lindh joined the ranks of Islam to fight against his fellow Americans. NewsMax.com, 7/30/02, reveals some of the lyrics. "We came to fight the jihad (holy war), our hearts were pure and strong. We filled the air with our prayers and we prayed for our martyrdom." Little John was left to make his own decisions concerning his life, and the music that framed it. Note the closing line: "If I should die, I'll rise up to the sky like Jesus." This reveals the mind set of one who had a heroin addiction, which led to a drug bust and jail time. More disgusting than this swipe at patriotism is the blasphemous tie with the resurrection of the Lord of all the earth. Country music not only can be harmful, it is harmful! If parents do not guard their children's intake, the outcome may be similar to that of John Lindh. -WWM
Homosexual Chaplains In VA Hospitals - The Veteran's Administration agreed Aug. 5 to allow the United Federation of Metropolitan Community Churches - an organization comprised primarily of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender ministers and congregants - to field chaplains at VA healthcare facilities. (BP, 8/8/02) After long and persistent efforts and marches, the homosexual crowd has their foot into government. How strange that so much care is said to be taken that donated blood is AIDS free and permit the group at highest risk to minister in health facilities. Not only is this group altogether void of ability to help spiritually, they place others in danger both spiritually and physically. Demanding them to wear rubber gloves to prevent infection will be challenged on the ground of discrimination. Note one of their arguments is that Romans chapter one does not condemn homosexuality. "They argue that the passage condemns homosexuality for those who are created heterosexual but not for those created homosexual." They contend that it would be as great a sin for a "created homosexual to practice heterosexual behavior." Could not such reasoning be applied as well to a "created" pedophile? This reasoning would also free those in Lev. 20:15,16. But it doesn't!! Why would Congress fall for such foolishness as this? Homosexuality, pedophilia, and lying with beast are an abomination to God. Fools still make a mock at sin. (Prov. 14:9) -WWM
SW Bell Supports Homosexuality? - The July move by Big Brother/Big Sister organization to embrace homosexual/lesbian mentors, who have close ties with young people, has rightly raised the intensity of concern among all Bible believers. Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission has taken an open stand against the move by BBBS. He also has commended others who have stood firmly on the biblical principle that homosexuality is an abomination before God. Terry Fox, pastor of a large SBC church in Wichita, KS has made his opposition known before his church as well as over TV and radio. (Baptist Press, 8/20/02) A reporter from the Wichita Eagle interviewed Pastor Fox who highlighted well the pitfalls of such a move. "The Wichita Eagle had cited three major grants from local sources this year (for BBBS): Koch Industries for $500,000; Boeing Wichita, $400,000; and Southwestern Bell, $350,000. United Way support, meanwhile, totaled more than $490,000." Koch Industries involved in investment agencies has made a bad investment. Boeing has recently been awarded $61.8 million by the Air Force. (Indirectly all taxpayers are supporting the BBBS gay program.) SW Bell users have another added tax to their phone bill also supporting BBBS. Although small congregations will not get the publicity above, support your pastor as he condemns this practice. -WWM
Sensible Reasoning - Richard Land, president of the SBC's Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission considering the maneuver of Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization: "At a very basic level of common sense, we do not allow heterosexual males unsupervised an extended contact with adolescent females." "Would you let a heterosexual male accompany your 15-year-old daughter on a sleep-over? Why not? Because heterosexual males are attracted to females. To allow such an arrangement is contrary to common sense. Similarly, homosexual males are by definition attracted to males. You wouldn't send your 15-year-old son on a sleepover with a homosexual male. Now I'm not saying all homosexual males desire to have sexual relations with adolescent boys any more than I am saying all heterosexual males desire to engage in sexual activity with adolescent girls." "But just as society rightfully frowns upon unsupervised heterosexual adolescent male-female relationships, we should not foster situations where adolescent boys are placed in a situation where they could be the object of the misplaced affection of homosexual adult males." "How can a homosexual teach a boy without a dad the skills he needs to be an effective husband and father? How can a lesbian woman teach a young girl the skills she needs to be a wife and mother?" (BP, 8/20/02) One thing the homosexual crowd, or those who support them, will never be successfully accused of is having "common sense." -WWM
Legalized Murder-"Some 4,000 babies have been aborted in this country every day since 1973." (BP, 8/19/02) The Comstock Law of 1873 declared birth control and abortion information obscene and banned it from the U.S. mail. The Comstock Law was declared unconstitutional in 1938, although state laws against birth control remained. In 1965 the Supreme Court of the United States struck down the last of state laws against contraception, asserting that married men and women have a right to privacy. That right was extended to unmarried persons in 1971. In 1973 abortion was legalized in the United States. Since then various restrictions have been placed on abortion, and the issue is one of the most divisive in contemporary America. (Encarta Online Encyclopedia 2002) In one century the USA has elapsed from banning abortion information from U.S. mail to legalizing over 27 million murders of unborn infants. That is some 10 percent of the population. Yet hoards of illegal immigrants are storming U.S. boundaries, some determined to destroy the grass roots of America, with liberal arms awaiting. Liberal lawmakers are faking false concern about human rights. They legalized homo-sexuality & murder of babies and seek to squelch the voice of those who preach against it. -WWM
Koran In/Bible Out - A federal appeals court turned down an attempt by a conservative Christian group to halt the Univ. of NC from using a text on the Islamic holy book, the Koran, to teach new students. Without amplifying the reasoning behind its decision, the U.S. 4th Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, VA, said lawyers for the Family Policy Network had "failed to satisfy the requirements" for halting the study program. The decision upheld a lower federal court ruling in Charlotte, NC, allowing the university to use the book. (Latimes.com, 8/20/02) This is required reading through the summer classes for new students at UNC. The Word of God can only be read in private and in some cases in secret or the ACLU will be riding up on their white steeds with their legal swords glistening. But higher education seems to require more knowledge about Allah and less about the true God. One nation under God is quickly becoming one nation without the true God. (Dan. 9:8) "O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee." -WWM
Wal-Mart & Porn-Mr. Walton might be embarrassed to go through the check-out line at one of his Wal-Mart stores today - a store whose trademark has been to help parents and their families to shop in a moral setting with high standards in products and practices. Although the family oriented claim is still intact, in fact the atmosphere at the check-out stand is not. "Arthur Ally, president of The Timothy Plan, has described Cosmopolitan magazine as one of the `most blatantly aggressive soft core pornographic magazines in America' and petitioned the president of Wal-Mart to either change the company's professed reputation as a family-oriented store or make the magazines less visible." (BP, 8/21/02) "Less visible" can hardly be applied to Cosmopolitan. It is a sex-oriented magazine with a no-holds barred picturesque invitation to the lustful eye of men & fashion-seeking women. However, very little more flesh is seen on the magazine cover than many standing in the check-out line. (Both men and women!!) If you ask a few of these mini-attired shoppers if they were saved, too many of them might reveal their membership in a local Baptist church. Before you call me a dirty minded old man, I just may be looking for the evidence of the family-oriented claim and crowd. -WWM
Birds Of A Feather? - "Nation of Islam's Louis Farrakhan campaigned Sunday for Rep. Cynthia McKinney in Georgia and defended her outlandish statements about the September 11th attack." (Federalist, 8/21/02) McKinney apologized to a Saudi prince who offered $10 million to help the victims of the 9/11 attack on the U.S. Mayor Rudy Giuliani had returned the money because the Saudi prince implied that the attacks were the result of American foreign policy. Guess what religion Farrakhan would establish as the state religion if he could? All persons that had anything to do with the 9/11 attack were Muslims. Islam is not a peaceful religion. Beware of Farrakhan's statements about anything. Watch out congress-woman, your persuasions are showing. -WWM
NEA's Liberal Slant - "The National Education Association advised teachers not to blame any ethnic group when teaching about the September 11th attacks." (Federalist, 8/21/02) There is little doubt which "ethnic group" the NEA is referring to. The media agrees with the NEA and all others that Islam is a peaceful religion. The ethnic group of Islam are the one and only class of people of certain distinctive characteristics, such as religion, language, ancestry, culture, or national origin who were involved in the attack on America. But be careful not to tarnish such a dangerous religion as Islam. On the other hand don't mention the true God or permit prayer. (Isa. 30:1) "Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:..." -WWM
Liberty For One Nation Under God - "...God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever." - Thomas Jefferson (Term as President: 1801-1809) (Practical Ministry Innovations Online, 8/21/02) Let the Godless Americans March charge Washington D.C. with a man like this in the oval office. They would scurry home with their arrogant attitudes against God dragging behind them painted in communist red. Let them seek citizenship in a godless country. Let every one who loves the liberty wherewith we are set free, and the God who made it possible through Christ Jesus, stand boldly on the Lord's side. (Gal. 5:1; Exo. 32:26) (Psa. 33:12) "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance." -WWM
SBC & Luis Palau - Southern Baptists associated with the Embracing Seattle outreach were among the key leadership and volunteers for an Aug. 17-18 Puget Sound Festival sponsored by
the Luis Palau Evangelistic Association that resulted in more than 4,000 professions of faith. (Baptist Press, 8/30/02) This may be another report of "easy believe" salvation. Palau has been listed as a speaker at SBC meetings. He is also listed as speaker at other ecumenical events with such liberals & false religionist as Tony Campolo, Bill Hybels, John Maxwell, and Catholics. Although they were not listed, the Puget Sound Festival featured "some
of the biggest names in con-temporary Christian music." Palau is a "fit all" evangelist. He fits well in Christian(?) rock festivals, as a speaker, with Michael W. Smith, Newsboys, Jars of Clay and others. It seems the Southern Baptist will join anyone regardless of their affiliation with contemporary, worldly religion. (1 Cor. 15:33) "Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners." -WWM
Homosexual Child Molesters - "While a homosexual cannot automatically be considered a child molester, nevertheless there is cause for concern," Judith Reisman, president of the Institute for Media Education in suburban Louisville, Ky., and a social researcher who has studied sexual behavior for 25 years, stated in a May 2001 article in Baptist Press. Reisman noted, first, that 17-24 percent of boys are abused by age 18, nearly as many as the 25 percent of girls. Then, she noted, since heterosexuals outnumber the homosexual population about 44 to 1, as a group the incidence of homosexuals molesting children is up to 40 times greater than heterosexuals. (BP, 8/30/02) I find it difficult to believe that 1 out of every 44 people are homosexuals. However, as close in resemblance as America is getting to Sodom gives reason for thought. -WWM
Family Psychologist On BB/BS & Homosexuals - "In light of the ongoing sex scandal involving Catholic priests, the new policy of `inclusion' by Big Brothers Big Sisters appears reckless and irresponsible," Bill Maier, a child and family psychologist wrote. "Many of the priests charged with sexually abusing children and adolescents have admitted they are homosexuals. They used their position of authority to sexually violate those who trusted them the most. BBBSA's decision to match fatherless boys, starving for male attention, with gay men is a recipe for disaster." "Themes of adult-child sex are common in gay publications." -(BP, 8/30/02)
Michael Card On Christian Rock - "Certain lyrics just call for big orchestral music and some lyrics call for rock, as far in that direction as I can go, because that music is appropriate for some themes like judgment. I don't think it's appropriate for very many themes from the Bible, but there are some themes that are best communicated by rock music. I have trouble hearing real hard rock music with lyrics about the love of God. I just don't think it communicates, but then again, it's not my first language, either. It's a language, and if that's all some kids hear, then they need to hear about the love of God with some guy doing back flips off the stage." (July August 1995, Religious Broadcasting) [Can any sound thinking believer in Christ imagine Ezra doing a back flip off a platform made for the purpose of reading the Word of God simply to get the attention of the people. There is a world of difference in a bunch of young people, or adults, screaming over the beat of rock music than folks hearing the Word of God and worshiping with their faces to the ground. (Neh. 8) -WWM]
