Ashcroft Blames School Shootings On Violent Entertainment-Since no one can truthfully say that guns are the primary delinquent in school shooting, who is? Hear the truth from U. S. Attorney General John Ashcroft: "The entertainment industry, with its video games and the like, which sometimes literally teach shooting and all, we've got to ask ourselves how do we as a culture respond to be more responsible," Ashcroft said on ABC's Good Morning America. He also stated, "Even the news industry can report incidents like this in ways that maybe don't promote copycat replications." (Lubbock A-J, 3/24/01) Thank God for men in authority who identify and proclaim where some of the real problems are in America.- (W. W. Mosley, hereafter WWM)

Clinton Pardons Criminals, Condemns Babies-Just prior to leaving office, former President Clinton proposed a federal regulation that would have stated that a newborn child is still a "fetus" until it is determined that the baby will live by "independently maintaining a heartbeat and respiration." Only when this determination is made is the baby considered a "child." (TVC, 3/23/01) If these rules were ever implemented, a newborn in intensive care units would be considered a "fetus," not a child. This would mean that the anxious parents of their new-born child would be facing more than their child's health problems. Pray that this ruling of the former President will be abolished. -WWM

NAMB And Catholics-North Amer. Miss. Board officials have announced plans next year to conclude a series of talks with representatives of the RCC about the Bible's role in the Christian faith. (Baptist Press,3/26/01) The two groups are scheduled to meet again in Sept. at SBTS, Wake Forest, N.C., to wrap up their discussions on Soteriology, the doctrine of eternal salvation. The article stated ". . . that although Southern Baptists and Roman Catholics disagree sharply in their beliefs on eternal salvation and the authority of the Bible, NAMB values the relationship that has been forged between the two denominations." How would the martyred Ana-Baptist of past centuries feel about Baptist today that are becoming compatible with the harlot church? I fear more than the nose of the proverbial camel has entered an open door of ecumenicalism. -WWM

Jesse's Pot Of Gold-Corporate donations have made up for 97% of the $17 million taken in last year by Je$$e Jack$$on's Rainbow organizations. (Federalist, 3/23/01) Has Jesse lost his power to threaten big companies with boycott? Only time will tell. Jesse has been obviously absent from the limelight since his adulterous activity came out. Maybe he is hiding from an IRS audit of his enterprises. It would be good for all if he would stay underground where he belongs. -WWM

Woman Pastor Criticizes SBC-Julie Pennington-Russell, senior pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Waco, TX "sharply criticized the SBC last spring after reading the proposed Baptist Faith and Message confessional statement that referenced a biblical view of only males serving in the office of senior pastor." She was quoted as saying, "It would come as a surprise to Jesus that the office of pastor should be limited to men." (Baptist Press, 3/22/01) It may come as a surprise to "Pastor" Julie that the other "Comforter" that Jesus' heavenly Father sent inspired the words in 1 Tim. 3:2 & Titus 1:6. Being the "husband of one wife" disqualifies "Pastor" Julie. Sadly many misled churches will fall for such nonsense. -WWM

LA Grant Promotes Disgrace To Mary-Although the Catholic church has falsely promoted the Virgin Mary to a co-redeemer status, she is the woman God honored to give physical birth to the Savior. Alma Lopez used a city of L.A. grant to produce "a nearly nude figure" of Mary. (LA Times, 4/4/01) The ridiculous claim by Catholics that Mary is the mother of God is outdone only by Lopez's artistic(?) (dis)abilities to paint Mary in a bikini as a cheap call girl. Here is the one "highly favoured" and blessed "among women" (Luke 1:28) depreciated in the eyes of the world, and setting a precedent for others to follow. -WWM

Simpson's Impressionable Neighbor-"Homer" Simpson that is. The father of foul mouthed, disrespectful, degenerate delinquent youth icon, Bart Simpson, has an even more popular neighbor. Among American college and high school campuses, the name most associated with the word Christian . . . other than Jesus is Ned Flanders of The Simpsons. (CT Online, 4/4/01) Modern society has degenerated to the point of idolizing fanciful figures as models of life. God has been removed from schools, renounced by society, and relegated to citizens who are relegated to second class and counted less than socially mature. Thank the Lord for His inspired Word that says differently. "The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness." (Prov. 15:14) -WWM

Ministerial Students Reject Traditional Christianity-Philip Reynolds, a theology professor at the United Methodist Candler School of Theology in Atlanta, says his students are studying to be ministers and theologians. Yet more and more, some reject the usual Christian talk about Jesus' death. They do not consider Jesus a ransom for sin. They shudder at hymns glorifying the "power of the blood." They cringe at calling the day Jesus died Good Friday. They say a God who requires human sacrifice sounds mean and vindictive. (Dallas Morn. News,4/12/01) It is little wonder that hymn books without the blood join the many new Bible versions that are doing the same. I also cringe at calling the day Jesus died as Good Friday since it was late Wednesday. (Evening and morning: three days. Count `em.) -WWM

SMU Help Muslims Keep Faith-From SMU and the University of North Texas to colleges across the country, Muslim Students Associations are helping (Muslim) members stay tied to their faith by offering weekly prayers, community activities and ways to connect with others in the growing ranks of Islamic students. (Dallas Morn. News, 3/4/01) It is little wonder that the above named Methodist theological prof. is seeing more of his student abhor the doctrine of salvation through the blood of Christ. If the doctrine of total depravity and blood redemption, which Baptist hold dear, was taught in a Christian student association "in colleges across the country," the ACLU would be contacting the U.S. Attorney Gen. and everyone else with authority in both directions. Be sure a Muslim dominated nation will never show such consideration to Christians. -WWM

Pastor Says Stories Of God Fabricated/Exaggerated-"Rev." Holly McKissic, pastor of St. Andrew Christian Church, Olathe, KS says auditing "a seminary class on the vengeance of God in the OT" left a vivid impression on her. "The reports of violence and vengeance in the Bible, often attributed to God, are often gross exaggerations, if not outright fabrications. As my rabbi friend put it, `there just weren't enough Israelites around to do that kind of damage.'" (KC Star, 4/6/01) The pastor said these fabricated stories, "Teach us more about the people who told the stories . . and ourselves . . than they do about God." No doubt other OT stories are also fabricated. The prophecy of the virgin birth of Christ, the Hebrew children the fiery furnace, the global flood, and the catching away of Elijah. False religion believes only what it want to. One of the reasons so many false translation of the Bible are surfacing. -WWM

Kids Still Clamor For Harry Potter Books-The books Harry Potter reads are now as popular as books about him. The rankest of witchcraft is taught young people through the writing of J.K. Rowling. Under a pen name, Kennilworth Whisp, the "books Harry Potter reads" are tumbling off the presses into hands of America's children. (Lubbock A-J, 3/14/02) The latest two books are purported to be the text books of Harry Potter. Advance orders are pouring in to retailers handling the books. Satan also adds a bit more of his mockery. The books are designed to resemble legitimate textbooks. Parents, beware of the receivable tactic of the devil. -WWM

Yahoo and Hard-Core Porn-One of the nation's largest Internet sites, Yahoo Inc., is suffering from loss of profits. It has decided to begin selling "hard-core pornography DVDs and videos." Yahoo Internet Site claims more than 185 million people access their site each month. (TVC. 4/13/01) If every believer in Christ would cease patronizing their site, search engine, and system altogether maybe it would die on the vine. Frequenting such sites or businesses only strengthen their ability and intent on promoting sin and degradation. "Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them." (Eph. 5:11) -WWM

Covenant Marriage-"USA Today reported on Thursday that Arkansas has just become the third state to offer covenant marriages-voluntary agreements that will make divorces harder to obtain." (TVC, 4/13/01) Arkansas is second only to Nevada in the highest divorce rate in our nation. The law requires couples to pledge to marry for life and to get counseling if they have problems. (Ibid.) Other states are discussing the same action seeking to decrease the high divorce rate in America. One man/one woman until death is God's divine law. If His law was endorsed, many man-made laws would be abolished. "For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder." (Matt. 19:5,6) -WWM

Falwell Makes Muslims Mad-A Muslim group is demanding an apology from Jerry Falwell for remarks he made to a religious Web site where he said "the Muslim faith teaches hate" and Muslims should be ineligible to receive government funds for social programs. He said Islam is intolerant of other religions and Muslims "should be out the door before they knock" and ask for federal funds (3/19 Chr. News). He added, "the Islam religion, wherever it has majority control…doesn't even allow people of other faiths to express themselves or evangelize or to exist in their presence." That is right, Dr. Falwell. -(Calvary Contender, hereafter CC)

Moon's 'Truth' Is False-Unification Church founder Sun Myung Moon says America has been in decline since the end of World War II "because they didn't recognize the truth that was brought to them by Rev. Moon." He claims to share "the ultimate truth, directly from God." (3/19 C. News). He calls his 46-state speaking tour his gift to America. He calls himself a third Adam sent to complete the task of restoring God's kingdom on Earth that Jesus failed in due to his crucifixion. -(CC)

Homosexual Activist Is Pres. Of Calif. Council Of Churches-Gwynne Guibord, ecumenical officer of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches (a homosexual denom), has been elected president of the California Council of Churches. -CC
